For over 30 years she has been writing and publishing trail guides to Alberta's Kananaskis Country. We sat down with Gillean at her home in Calgary to chat about her experiences in hiking, the women who inspire her and the moment when she decided to create her first guide book - Kananaskis Trail Guide Vol 1.

We headed north on a weekend from Lake Louise along the Icefields Parkway to hit the trail to two gems: Folding Mountain + Allstones Lake to revel in a sunset view of the prairies turning into mountains and a lake with campsites from a dream.
