Sand, rocks, and salt are not usually on my must-see list when I set out for an adventure. I am usually drawn towards lush forests and vast mountainscapes. So when my husband wanted to plan a trip to Death Valley National Park, I was skeptical. I couldn't imagine how visually stimulating the desert would be, but boy did Death Valley surprise me in so many different ways.
Earlier this year, my best friend Jessica, suggested we go on a ski expedition. It didn't take long for us to stumble across information about resort and back country skiing in Chile, convince two other girls to join us and find a guide willing (and nuts enough) to lead the four of us around some volcanoes and ranges found in the Andes!
When most people imagine a destination wedding, the first image that comes to mind is probably palm trees or a white sand beach. For mountain enthusiasts, however, the setting of this autumn wedding in the Canadian Rockies was an absolute dream! I had the privilege of witnessing two friends say their vows amidst the majestic mountains and lakes of Waterton Lakes National Park.
Lush forest, vibrant lakes, massive waterfalls, glowing golden larches, and over 80 km of trails – Lake O’Hara is something out of a dream. Every step I took in this beautiful park left me in awe. Not even 3-days wandering around this magnificent place is enough to take in all its beauty.
This winter season the San Juan Range was calling my name! It also turns out that they have an awesome hut system called the San Juan Huts that runs for miles along the range. Perfect!
August's hike was an amazing and beautiful experience for all of us who participated! With distance of 23.8km and a total elevation gain of 760m this was a great full day adventure indeed!
