Canadian Rockies Mountain Guides is pleased to be offering an Avalanche Skills Training program exclusively for women on December 2nd and 3rd (Saturday & Sunday). This two day course will feature a 7 hour in class component on Day 1 at the Canmore Recreation Centre (Ha Ling Room) and a trip into the backcountry either in Banff National Park or in the Kananaskis Country on Day 2. This course is licensed by Avalanche Canada has a revised curriculum that simplifies the concepts and teaching lessons. The course objectives are:
1. Avalanche Formation and Release
2. Avalanche Terrain Recognition
3. Plan and execution of a backcountry trip
4. Travel Techniques and Group Management
5. Demonstrate a Basic Companion Rescue.
This Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 is brought to you by Canadian Rockies Mountain Guides – a small mountain guiding service that specializes in smaller ratio courses and programs. Our AST Level 1 is 1:12 max in classroom and 1:6 in the field so that students can optimize their learning process with quality time and interaction with the course instructor. Our aim is deliver a program in an environment where students feel safe posing any/all questions and learn through not only the curriculum materials and instructors presentation, but also through quality small group interactions with other course participants.
